ROSARITO SURFING TIPS

The water temps near Rosarito Beach and the rest of Northern Baja can be chilly, but in the summer the ocean can get up to 75 degrees. From September- June you should plan on bringing a full wetsuit and some booties to protect your feet against sharp rocks and sea urchins. Surf spots such as La Fonda and Las Gaviotas can be crowded, especially on weekends. It's worth the drive a bit farther south down Baja to point breaks such as Punta San Jose and Punta Cabras if you have time.

The waves in the winter can be huge, as big swells march down the Baja Peninsula from storms in Alaska.
